The anticipation about The Game Awards was significant, notably after host Geoff Keighley shared a puzzling image of a desert monolith. The mystery has been revealed. Larian Studios is creating a completely new Divinity game.
Titled simply Divinity, the game was debuted with a daring trailer that included intense imagery, from a figure engulfed in flames to scenes of revelry and the literal unleashing of hell.
Not the Expected Sequel
For those expecting Divinity Original Sin 3, that is not happening. Larian clarified that a direct sequel to its critically acclaimed RPGs is not being worked on now.
Nevertheless, the developer described this new Divinity as a evolution of the core franchise. This choice of words hints that the team might be building a faster-paced experience as opposed to another turn-based title. Currently, it remains theory, as only a teaser video is available.
A Pillar of Modern RPGs

While its universe is traditional swords and sorcery, what truly sets Divinity apart is the immense freedom given to the player.
In contrast to modern RPGs have simplified options, Divinity is full of specialized paths that are viable by choosing a distinct build with a personal story.
The series is also notoriously permissive, allowing players to improvise both in story and combat. Virtually all objectives can be solved in a variety of manners, often in lateral fashion.
- You might find an answer because you remembered something an animal companion shared.
- Or, you could overcome an obstacle by moving environmental hazards in a clever way.
